The Reiki Treatment

Reasons people have Reiki treatments:

  • To increase energy levels
  • To improve health challenges
  • To reduce stress
  • To help during times of major change
  • To give comfort in times of bereavement
  • To accelerate the healing process after surgery
  • To accelerate the healing process with orthopedic injuries
  • As a method of preventative health care
  • To pamper oneself
  • For pain relief
  • To overcome fears

A Reiki treatment is a very relaxing, non invasive procedure.  Most Reiki practitioners allow anything from one hour to an hour and a half for a full Reiki treatment.  During a Reiki treatment the client remains fully clothed and lies down on a comfortable Reiki table.  Most practitioners cover their clients with a light blanket.

The role of the practitioner in a Reiki treatment is to channel the universal Reiki energy to the client.  They do not use their own individual energy in their work.  The practitioners of Reiki have been trained in how to facilitate the flow of this energy to others during their Reiki training.

During a Reiki treatment the practitioner places his or her hands gently over specific points on the client’s body.  Certain sensations may be experienced by the client as the Reiki energy flows out the practitioners hands.  Some feel sensations such as heat, tingling or coolness.  The Reiki energy will always present itself  according to how each part of the body needs to perceive it.  Most people find that the energy of Reiki transports them into a deep relaxed state.  It is not unusual for people to fall asleep during a treatment.

There are many reasons why people choose to have Reiki treatments.  Some people want relief from chronic conditions.  In such cases ongoing weekly treatments for about four to six weeks are usually encouraged.  This allows a cumulative build up of the energy in the client. The treatments can be then reviewed accordingly.  In my experience no two people are the same.  It is impossible to predict how many treatments are likely in any specific case.

People who want relief from an acute condition or an acute exacerbation of an existing condition may notice results quicker than a person presenting with a chronic condition.  Again, in my experience no two people will respond to Reiki in exactly the same way.

The wise people are those who have  Reiki treatments as a preventative measure.  People who look after themselves when they are well are less likely to get ill. A Reiki treatment every now and again is a lovely way of pampering yourself.

I am frequently asked if Reiki can help or cure certain conditions and challenges.  My answer is always the same, ” I cannot tell you what Reiki will do for you, I can only tell you what it has done for others”.  In my experience Reiki has unlimited potential, but I cannot predict what results individual people will get from this energy.
